Current work
I'm co-founder and head of EMS at Octave.energy, a Belgian cleantech company. We help businesses manage their energy with battery energy storages systems (BESS) and smart software.
Octave has sold over 200 MWh of battery storage and runs the largest fleet of behind-the-meter batteries in Belgium.
Our Energy Management System (EMS) controls and optimizes batteries, solar PV installations and EV charging networks. Our goal is to speed up the energy transition and optimize our customers' energy bill, while making the energy system more flexible.

Previous work
Before Octave, I built my career at the intersection of energy and data. At Gogoro in Taipei, I worked as a battery data engineer, improving charging algorithms of their battery-swapping network to extend battery lifespan. Earlier, I modelled European power markets at ENGIE Impact, traded electricity on short-term power markets at Lampiris (TotalEnergies), and started out as an energy consultant at Sia Partners.
Education
I hold a dual MSc degree: electromechanical engineering at UCLouvain and energy at KU Leuven. For my thesis, I worked with Elia, Belgium's transmission system operator, on non-linear frequency containment reserves.
About me
First and foremost, I'm a dad of three. I'm deeply interested in everything related to the energy transition and sustainable technologies. I'm also a Python geek and a data visualization enthusiast.
